Granfalloon, is the musical project of Manchester based artist and producer Richard Lomax. Lomax makes a hybrid of lo-fi folk, experimental music, and electronica - weaving oddball elements, such as Omnichords, acoustic guitars, and vintage drum loops, into dreamy songs and cinematic soundscapes. Granfalloon's second album entitled RGB (or Red Green Blue) is out this September on Spotify, Apple Music, and 12" vinyl. The current single The Elephant premiered on BBC Introducing and the band played The Orbit Stage at Bluedot Festival last month. The album will be accompanied by a UK tour, see dates below.

"A lovely mass of chiming chords, deadpan wordplay and a wispy psychedelic otherness." - Now Then Magazine

"Impressive debut" - The Big Issue

"Music that wouldn't sound out of place in a Wes Anderson film" - Drunken Werewolf

The new album, RGB, was recorded in Manchester between John Ellis' Limefield Studio, WR Audio, and their own studio, The Dogan. They worked with producer Andrew Glassford (One Little Atlas), and Australian electronic artist/producer Jack Prest (Jonti/Sampa The Great), with Lomax producing as well.

Lomax has previously released two albums with anarchic folk collective Johnny5thWheel&thecowards including TalesOf ("a work of genius" - Whisperin' & Hollerin' + "one of the finest folk-pop records of the year" - God Is In The TV) through Sotones Records (Band Of Skulls/The Moulettes). Both albums were named in many blogs' top 50 of the year. After moving to Manchester in 2013, Lomax wrote and recorded 52 songs in 2014 (one per week) for the album Calendar - an ephemeral musical document of the year which saw him collaborate with different artists from week to week including Avital Raz, Natalie McCool, and future Granfalloon collaborator Peer Van See.

After the album's release in 2015 he put together the sonic palette for Granfalloon's mixture of folk and electronica (folktronica), and recorded the debut Granfalloon album, Down There For Dancing, released in 2017 ("...a delicately poised sliver of indie that exists between the darkest of hours and the breaking of the dawn. Lomax’s rich, deep vocal croons over a melody that I would gladly be awoken by every day while a beat stutters in the background. Lomax is one of those artists that will persistently and consistently produce music of excellent quality without compromising for the benefit of mass appeal. This is art (without wanting to sound pretentious) and art sounds good in 2017." - Listen With Monger)

Their 2018 single, Broken Things, picked up tremendous support from BBC Introducing in Manchester and they have also been named Artist Of The Week for Richer Sounds and Qthemusic. This Summer they will be appearing at Bluedot Festival. In 2018, they toured the UK, Germany, Belgium, France, and Italy. Previously Lomax has played shows with We Are ScientistsFrightened RabbitEmma PollockThe Burning Hell, and The Wave Pictures.
